G. Kulikova. The 60th Anniversary of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society

The article is devoted to the Society of Russian-Chinese friendship (SRCF) — the heir and successor of the glorious traditions of the first Soviet society of friendship with peoples of foreign countries —Soviet-Chinese friendship Society found in Moscow on 29 October 1957. Over 60 years the Society continues its activities to strengthen understanding and friendly ties with its neighbour — China, with the great Chinese people.

A. Vinogradov. The XIX Congress of CPC: the Great Campaign towards Revival

The article reviews the main provisions, possible domestic and foreign implications of the CPC XIX Congress decisions. Particular attention is given to the basic principles of the theory of socialism with the Chinese characteristics of the New era, to the problems, contradictions and challenges of modern world development for China and the need to change the development model in PRC, as well as to Xi Jinping’s role in elaborating the ideological and theoretical doctrine of the CPC.

I. Ushakov. Ecology-Related Agenda of the XIX Congress of CPC

The article highlights the major directions for the futher development of the PRC ecology-related poicy as set forth at the XIX Congress of the Communist Party of China (October, 2017). The summary of some results attained during implementation of the previous environment protection plans is followed by the outline of the prospects for resolving the problems faced by the State in environment-protection activities.

D. Streltsov. The 2017 Parliamentary Elections in Japan: the Return Back or a New Stage of Political Development?

The article contains analysis of special election to the House of Representatives of Japanese Parliament held on October 22, 2017. The Author notes that voters have not shown great interest in this election, but the feeling of external threat associated with DPRK actions, as well as the absence of effective alternative to the LDP and the chaos inside the opposition row allowed the ruling coalition to win convincing victory, retaining the qualified majority in the lower house.

N. Kotlyarov, A. Ostrovsky. Foreign Investment in China: Place and Role in the Economic Reform

The dynamics of sectoral and territorial structure of foreign investment in China is presented. The basic directions of investment flows from abroad are covered. The analysis shows that the sectoral structure of foreign investme​_nt remains in constant changing due to the investment policy of the Chinese government. Foreign investment throughout the reform period were directed either to municipalities – Shanghai, Beijing – or to the most developed coastal regions (Guangdong, Jiangsu). This order remained unchanged during the implementation of economic reforms.

N. Koledenkova. Main Directions and Priorities in the Development of Engineering Complex of China

The article describes the key directions of development of engineering industry in China in XXI Century. The special attention is given to the industry’s transition to innovative development. The author presents the dynamics of manufacturing principal products, examines the role of state capital and foreign investments in technical re-equipment of enterprises.

I. Garry. The History of the Origin of Princedoms of Hor in Eastern Tibet

The article discusses the history of princedoms of Hor in Eastern Tibet from the XIII Century until the fall of the Qing Empire (1911) in the context of their relationship with the Mongols and Manchus. Special attention is paid to the history of the princedoms’ origin, to distribution inside them of Buddhist Gelug school, to socio-political situation in the princedoms at the time of first appearance of the aliens there.

V. Perminova. Legislative Reform and Legal Status of Taiwan in Japanese Empire (1895–1945)

The article analyses Japan’s policy during the occupation of Taiwan in 1895–1945, aimed at full integration of the colony with its mother country, including the sphere of legislation. It discusses in detail the legal status of the island, civil rights and liberties of local population; traces the changes in the legislation and its adaptation to local realities in various periods of Japanese administration’s colonial rule.

A. Krushinsky. The Logic of Chinese Stratagem Thinking

From the point of view of Confucian philosophers of antiquity cognitive value of the reasoning is determined by its efficiency, so the highest cognitive status belongs to an infallible prognostic reasoning. This type of reasoning, where the veracity of the forecast is guaranteed by the implementation of a certain winning strategy, may be called a predictive form of deduction.
